If you hear a grinding noise when applying your brakes;

This usually means that your brake pads have reached the minimum thickness, this can be very dangerous because your car has lost the friction part of the brake pad, you will be braking on the metal back plate of your brake pads causing the grinding noise. Your car brake pads and brake discs will need changing ASAP.

If you feel that your vehicle is pulling to the left or right when braking hard;
When this happens it normally indicates that there will be a sticking /seized brake pad or issues with the hydraulic elements of the brakes like you brake calliper.

You may notice an illuminated brake warning light on the instrument panel when applying your brakes;
Normally means the your brake pads are low and need changing ASAP before the cars brake discs gets damaged. Depending on the car manufacture it may have a different warning light or warning sign, if you are unsure please feel free to contact us so that we can confirm the warning sign for you.

Brakes Fitting Service

Feel a continuous pulsating from the brake pedal;
Normally associated with a warped brake disc or distorted brake drum. Also may happen after a few miles when the brake has warmed up. At Colindeep Motors we can run a test to confirm where the fault is.

A spongy feeling on the brake pedal;
This spongy feeling indicates that there is air in the hydraulic system due to a brake fluid leak and will need to be investigated.

ABS system
Electronic ABS is fitted to the majority of vehicles these days, it is often integrated into Traction Control and electronic Stability Control programs. Your ABS requires the vehicles brakes to be in satisfactory working order to work effectively, it is not uncommon however, for the electronic system to develop its own faults. Your ABS system will self test every time you start your car, if your vehicle shows an ABS, traction or stability light whilst driving a fault will have been detected and recorded. We can scan the electronic systems on your vehicle to identify and repair any problems.

As of March 2013 any warning lights refering to the ABS, traction or stability control systems on your vehicle that are illuminated will fail the MOT test!

We can now offer the brake fitting service as a mobile service because we are working in conjunction with AM Vehicle Diagnostics so we can offer a wider service for our new and our valued loyal customer.
